FAQ's

Q: Is this authentic sea glass?

A: My sea glass is all genuine and hand picked from all over the world, including the beaches of California, England, Hawaii, and Italy. My sea glass is always left in its original organic shape, and is never cut or shaved to fit into the bezel.

Q: Do you find all the sea glass yourself?

A: While my business began with all hand-picked pieces from the coast of California and Cape Cod, as my business has grown I began to purchase sea glass from reputable sellers from all over the world.

Q: What are the materials used in your jewelry?

A: Most of my pieces are a mix between sterling silver, 14k gold fill and bits of gold plated.

Q: Can I see sea glass selection in ___ color?

A: I am always happy to send photographs of the selections I have on hand. If you have specific color and/or size requests, please be specific.

Q: Do you ship overseas?

A: Yes, I do! Please allow additional time for the jewelry to make it through customs. Unfortunately, once the piece has left the United States, I am unable to track it. Please be patient as your purchase makes its journey.

Q: What is the process for custom work?

A: To place an order for custom work, please email me at kate@katesamsondesign.com with the subject line “Custom Order Request”. In the email body, please describe details of your desired design and include any reference photos/links. Include what color and size of glass you would like for the design. You can also provide your own seaglass.

  • If providing your own glass: Pieces should be smooth, not jagged. I generally do not work with pieces of glass larger than 1 inch in diameter, but feel free to reach out.

Once I’ve confirmed that I can create your custom piece, please purchase a $50 custom deposit on my website. This deposit will be deducted from the price of your final piece.

Each custom piece is made-to-order, and is a collaborative process with the client. This process often takes 2 to 3 weeks, but can take longer depending on the complexity of the project. During the holidays where there is higher demand (usually Thanksgiving to New Years), projects may take some additional time. If you need a piece completed for a certain date, please contact me early.

Q: How do I care for my jewelry?

A:

Q: Help! My gold tarnished. How do I fix this?

A: Not to worry! If gold is stored improperly or comes in contact with certain compounds, tarnishing can occur. Clean your tarnished piece by adding a bit of dish soap in warm water, scrubbing with an old toothbrush and drying/buffing with a polishing cloth.

Q: Can I send you my sea glass?

A: Customers send me pieces of sea glass all the time.

Q: What is your return policy?

A: While my goal is always to create a piece of jewelry that you will cherish for a lifetime, I understand that sometimes things don’t work out. In the event you are not happy with your jewelry, please contact me directly. I’m always happy to work through any problems you may be having.
